Mental Illness, Homelessness and Victimization – Where Do You Stand?
As we discussed in class on 02/20/2014, the issue of individuals institutionalized for mental and physical disabilities, were victimized by staff, other patients, and system politics because they were not seen as functional human beings. Institutional Reformation took place in the United States in the 1980s. Institution doors opened, flooding communities with warehoused patients with nowhere to go.
