1. Examine the use of epic themes, techniques, character types, and/or narrative structure in a 20th Century novel, film, or other artwork. Be sure to consider how your chosen work deviates from, as well as reproduces, some of the conventions of the epic, and discuss why the creators (author, directors, etc.) of your work may have deviated from the form. You may write about a work of your choice, but ALL topics must be cleared with me in advance. NO PAPERS ON STAR WARS. Some suggested works:
