End-of-year assessments is fair

End-of-year assessments is fair
Paper instructions:
You have just been hired as a 8th grade English teacher in a public high school in Jersey City. Your principal has informed you and your colleagues that, after last year’s disappointing performance, you must increase the number of students passing the end-of-year statewide exam at all costs.

For this essay, you will write a report for your principal, expressing whether you think this new focus on the end-of-year assessments is fair. Your goal is to convince your principal to agree with your position and follow your recommendation, whatever that recommendation may be. In order to convince your principal, you will need to include outside research proving the validity of your argument. To this end, you must useat least two articles we have read in class as evidence and at least two articles or book chapters found through your own research.

Guidelines:

You must have a clear thesis that takes a stance on this topic.
You must use at least two articles or book chapters found through your own research.
You may mention personal experience in your introduction, but should otherwise avoid using personal observations as evidence—rely on expert testimony as evidence.
Your paper should be documented in MLA format with in-text citations and a works cited page.
