Definition and Analysis
In this essay, you will define a tenet of Transcendentalism and show how it is reflected in Henry David Thoreau’s Walden.
Introduction and Thesis Paragraph
Define the tenet you’ve chosen in relationship to the philosophy of Transcendentalism. If you only use one source other than Walden, just cite the source in the body of your paper. If you use multiple sources, you will need to create a Works Cited page. Use a “Something is something…” thesis that suggests the organization of your body paragraphs.
Include three of more body paragraphs that are well developed with direct quotes and paraphrase from Walden. Make sure to introduce the quote/paraphrase, give the quote/paraphrase, then analyze the quote/paraphrase. Make sure to use in-text and parenthetical citations. You may choose to organize your body paragraphs in the order of the book’s chapters of by a theme of your own devising.
