Case Study of the Parthenon
There will be no final test ? rather there will be a final essay ?Case Study? or analysis of a selected art work. In order to be successful at that time, the analysis will begin with an outline due at the appropriate dates above.
At this point in time all that is needed is a general idea of how you will pursue the analysis ? you do not need to actually do an analysis at this point. You should have some familiarity at this point in the course with looking at an discussing art works so there should be enough to get an outline completed.
1.Choose an art work from any of the works listed in the ?Course Schedule? except Prehistoric Art. It does not have to be works only discussed thus far ? look ahead to see what works interest you. (If there is some other work that is not listed but interests you let me know.)

2.Look at the section in the text on pages XXXVI to XLI for information on pursuing a case study on an art work. This should provide some of the information for an outline
3.Include in your outline some other works that can be used as comparisons or contrasts to your selected work.The works may NOT be art works already listed in the course outline and should include works from some other culture, or time period.
4.Provide some general reference to the historical period of the work in the proper category in your outline as a start to relating the work to that period.
