; andCalculate the shear strength of the specimen.

An unconfined compression test is conducted on a soft clay. The specimen is 35.6 mm in diameter and 73.66 mm high. The load indicated by the load transducer at failure is 16.25 N and the axial deformation imposed on the specimen at failure is 10.2 mm.It is desired to perform the following tasks:Plot the Mohr circle at failure;Calculate the unconfined compressive strength of the specimen; andCalculate the shear strength of the specimen.
